State hiring for law enforcement jobs in Rhode Island

The state just announced it is looking to fill law enforcement jobs in Rhode Island.

Specifically the state is looking for correctional guards – 60 of them.

Gov. Lincoln Chafee and city officials made the big announcement last week.

According to Boston.com, A.T. Wall, director of the state’s Department of Corrections, said Rhode Island’s the state’s prison guards have lower turnover rates than their peers in other states. But years of budget constraints forced the state to delay hiring new officers. Lawmakers have already funded the new positions.

The jobs offer relatively good wages and benefits.

Candidates who qualify will need to submit to various tests, including a background check, physical agility tests, and a training course.

In other parts of the state, agencies are hiring for advertising jobs in Rhode Island.
