Hospital cutting Rhode Island healthcare jobs
Posted on August 26, 2011
A hospital this week announced it is cutting a slew if Rhode Island healthcare jobs.
Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket announced it is laying off several people and closing an outpatient center.
The layoffs will affect various departments in the system.
In Johnson the center has a respiratory therapy service that will be shuttered.
A spokesperson said the layoffs are to curb costs and stabilize hospital finances.
According to CanadianBusiness.com, Landmark has been in court receivership since 2008. Massachusetts-based Steward Health Care System has agreed to buy the hospital. The sale must be approved by state regulators before being finalized.
